How Much To Use

Garden Area

• Spread 2 to 3 inches of Espoma® Organic Mushroom Compost Blend.
• Mix with existing soil to a depth of 4-6 inches using a rototiller or by hand.
• Add Bio-tone® Starter Plus as directed.
• Level with a rake, plant seeds or seedlings according to package instructions, and water thoroughly.
• Maintain moisture daily until plants are established.
• Start a regular fertilizer program 30 days after planting.

Planting Trees & Shrubs

• Dig a hole twice as wide and as deep as the root ball.
• Position the plant at the same depth it was growing before (use the soil mark on the trunk as a guide).
• Mix Espoma Organic Mushroom Compost Blend with native soil in equal parts.
• Add Bio-tone® Starter Plus as directed.
• Backfill with the amended soil, pack firmly, water thoroughly, and let settle. Add more soil if necessary.
• Mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. Keep well-watered until established.

Established Plants

• Apply ½ to 1 inch of Espoma Organic Mushroom Compost Blend around the base of the plant.
• Water thoroughly.
