Beautiful bi-color blooms that continue to flower throughout the summer make the Everlast™ Lavender Eye Pinks Dianthus a gardener favorite. Double hot pink flowers with feathery edges have deep lavender accents near the center. Narrow blue-green foliage fills the spaces between blooms, giving this mounded plant a full appearance. This fast-growing plant is easy to maintain, making it good for busy or forgetful gardeners.
Feature Dianthus in a bed, mass planting, or border where it can fill in a space with vibrant color. This upright plant naturally spreads out, so use it to create a mat-like groundcover. The bold flower color makes this plant a natural focal point, but it also looks lovely with other flowering plants with blooms in pink, purple, or white shades. The spicy, fragrant flowers attract pollinators, but the foliage is not generally preferred by foraging animals.
Everlast™ Lavender Eye Pinks Dianthus Care
The Everlast™ Lavender Eye Pinks Dianthus needs full to partial sun, so plant in an area that receives at least 4 to 6 hours of light. Soil should be rich and well-draining; otherwise, this perennial is not very fussy about the soil quality. Give this plant a drink once a week or when the top few inches of the soil dry out. Help the plant get off to a strong start by applying a balanced fertilizer in the spring and continue to feed the plant every 6 to 8 weeks.
Remove spent flowers to encourage more blooms during the summer. Cut back all growth after the flowers fade at the end of summer.
Everlast™ Lavender Eye Pinks Dianthus Spacing
Everlast™ Lavender Eye Pinks Dianthus is an upright, mounded plant that will grow 8 to 12 inches tall and 12 to 15 inches wide. Plants can be spaced 12 to 15 inches apart in a mass planting or border. Give the plants more room, and it will fill in with time.
