Dianthus Everlast™ Violet Blue (''KLEDG20336''), also known as Everlast™ Violet Blue Pinks, is a robust perennial with impressive flower production. It blooms from May into July, and then re-blooms in August. The double flowers are vivid violet-blue, some of the brightest of the Everlast series. The mound of gray-green foliage reaches a height of 8 - 10 inches and spread of 12 - 15 inches. The sweet fragrance can be best appreciated if you plant these along the edge of a walking pathway or near an entryway.
This tough perennial is highly adaptable and requires minimal maintenance. Violet Blue is exceptionally cold hardy to zone 4 and has no significant pests or diseases. Place these at the front of a perennial border, in a rock garden, or in containers on a porch or balcony. They attract pollinators, including butterflies, and are deer resistant.
Everlast™ Violet Blue Pinks Care
Everlast™ carnations prefer to grow in full sun, although they tolerate partial shade; they will produce more blooms in sun. Plant in any well-draining soil; they perform best in sandy, alkaline soils. Water regularly over the growing season as the roots are established.
Prune dead foliage off Everlast™ in early spring. Clip off spent flowers to encourage another flush of blooms in late summer. Shear off one-third of the foliage before the plant goes dormant in the winter. You can divide dianthus in spring or fall every 2-3 years.
Everlast™ Violet Blue Pinks Spacing
Space plants approximately 14 inches apart, center on center, for mass planting. This perennial also grows well in containers provided the diameter of the pot is at least 12 inches.
