You will dance for joy all summer long when you see the large, intensely colored flowerheads on this excellent reblooming hydrangea. The color of the blooms, depending on the acidity of your soil, will be from deep raspberry to violet blue, aging to a soft mauve. Let's Dance ¡Arriba!™ has 7-inch flowers that are quick to rebloom from early to late summer. The shrub grows to a height of 24-36 inches. With dark green leaves, sturdy stems, increased hardiness, and flowers that bloom throughout the season, Let's Dance ¡Arriba!™ will soon become your new favorite.
This shrub has a fast-growing habit with a mounded form. It is very low maintenance. It is the perfect size for containers on your patio. It is lovely in a perennial border, as a foundation plant, or as a low hedge. Use it in the landscape as a specimen or focal point. Place it anywhere that you would like to have color all summer long. It makes a great cut-flower, and this hydrangea is lovely when dried.
Let's Dance ¡Arriba! Hydrangea Care
Growing in zones 4-9, it likes average soil that is well drained, not soggy. It is salt tolerant. Plant in spring, making sure the crown of the plant rests just above the soil surface. Add a 2-3-inch layer of mulch and water the plant well. You may use a slow-release fertilizer that is formulated for roses, in early spring. It likes full sun to part sun; less sun is needed in hot climates.
This hydrangea blooms on new wood (this year’s growth) and on old wood (last year’s growth.) This means that regardless of winter damage, it will have flowers. Little pruning is needed – just remove dead stems. If you plant it in a container, you will have better control of the soil pH, resulting in the boldest colors. A pH below 7 is acid and gives purple/blue flowers; a pH above 7 is alkaline and results in pink blooms.
Let's Dance ¡Arriba! Hydrangea Spacing
When planting in a container, this shrub needs a soil depth of 18 inches to 2 feet. Always remember to choose a container with good drainage. In the landscape, space the hydrangea 24 - 36 inches from other plants.
