The Let's Dance® Starlight Hydrangea from Proven Winners ColorChoice® is a bigleaf lacecap hydrangea. This bush’s flowers are vibrant blue to pink colored blooms that form on old and new wood. This rebloomer has beautiful looking flowers from mid-Summer to late fall. The color can change from pink to blue depending on soil pH. More acidic soils will cause the flowers to be blue. Or you can add aluminum sulphate to the soil to encourage the blooms to be blue.
The flowers are also lacecap shaped instead of mophead shaped. Something you cannot find elsewhere in a reblooming hydrangea. So if you want something truly unique, this is the plant for you!
Let's Dance Starlight Hydrangea Care
Like most Hydrangea macrophylla, these need morning sun and afternoon shade if possible. If you plant in full-sun locations, be sure to water extra during hot summer days, especially in southern states. Well drained soil is a must to prevent against root rot.
Pruning Let’s Dance Hydrangeas isn’t necessary. However, if you do decide to prune, do so mid-summer after the first bloom. We do recommend that you prune off dead or sick branches and leaves when possible to encourage growth of healthy branches.
These work great in planters. However if you do plant in a container, be sure to either bring these inside during the winter, or protect the entire planter and plant so the roots and branches do not get winter damage. Especially in northern states or zones 5 and 6.
Let's Dance Starlight Hydrangea Spacing
Plant these bushes 36 to 48 inches apart, center on center. If you would like to create a hydrangea hedge or border, you can plant 24 inches apart center on center. These are the first reblooming lacecap hydrangea on the market. These work great in mass-planting, in containers, or for low mounding landscaping borders.
