The Double Play Pink Spirea is loved for its foliage and its flowers! The foliage begins as a deep red in the spring and turns to a dark green by late spring. It has vibrant pink blooms that pair perfectly with the foliage. It will bring your garden to life by attracting pollinators. It is deer resistant, tough, and easy to care for.
The foliage of the Double Play Pink Spirea has a show all its own. Beginning in the early spring it appears bright red and turning deep green by bloom season. The flowers bloom in late spring and are a stunning pink. The growth habit of this Spirea is mounded and dense. The Double Play Pink Spirea is the perfect addition to any landscape. It can be used for planting as a border plant, does well in mass planting, and makes a beautiful focal point.
Double Play Pink Spirea Care
The Double Play Pink Spirea is low maintenance. It requires to be planted in full sun, ensuring it receives, at minimum 6 hours of sun per day. It has average water needs and needs moist well drained soil. This Spirea is adaptable and will thrive in most soils and those with varying PH levels. Slow release fertilizer should be applied in the spring. Prune the Double Play Pink Spirea after flowering each year to encourage new growth.
Pruning Double Play Pink Spirea should be done in late winter or early spring. Cut off the branches selectively to shape it and improve the foliage density. Cut right above the bud facing. Never cut back more than a third of the branch. Trim dead or sick branches at any time of the year to improve the health and look of the shrub.

Due to its dense and mounded habit, be sure to space your Double Play Pink Spirea at minimum 24 inches apart, center on center. This is particularly important when the plant is used in border and mass planting. This spacing is to ensure the health of the plant and to prevent crowding.
