Want to bring vibrant, tropical style to your cold-weather garden? Look no further! This splendid Summerific spinderella Hibiscus is a joy to behold in all its summertime glory. The huge 8” pink flowers of Spinderella look like they belong in the tropics, but this is a hardy perennial down to Zone 4! Prolific pink and white flowers have a dark-red eye, resulting in a bright bulls eye for bees and hummingbirds.
If your garden gets enough moisture to satiate a Hibiscus, you can’t go wrong making Spinderella the centerpiece. The colossal tropical flowers, dark green foliage, and rounded habit is a real showstopper in mid-summer. The prolific floral display lasts through the end of summer, bringing much-needed color and interest at the end of the season.
Summerific® Spinderella Hibiscus Care
Plant your hibiscus in a full-sun location before the heat of the summer sets in. Well-drained, acidic soil is best for this plant. Spinderella is similar to other Hibiscus in its thirsty nature. Keep its soil moist and consistently watered. Mulch heavily in the first winter to maintain soil moisture.
Prune back in spring with a strong, sharp pair of loppers. This will be one of the last perennials to start new growth in spring, but your wait will be rewarded by quick, lush growth. Beware that Japanese Beetles find hibiscus very appetizing.
Summerific® Spinderella Hibiscus Spacing
Give this plant room to bloom! Spinderella Hibiscus needs 54-60” of space when planted.
