This tiny plant offers so much color and texture it way outperforms its weight class. Angelinas Teacup is a trailing sedum in a soft chartreuse that amps up to gold in fall, and has a needle-like texture as if it thought it were a creeping spruce. It’s perfect accent for rock gardens, dry gardens, slopes, sunbaked containers and window boxes, and even weaving through other sun-lovers as a groundcover. It looks amazing and modern in one large block planting, such as a raised bed, a patio inset, or parking strip.
Sedums are succulents, so are supremely heat and drought-tolerant. This one is a cultivar of Sedum rupestre that has been selected for not flowering, so it retains its neat appearance. Angelinas Teacup maxes out at a foot high and is hardy almost everywhere – from zones 4-9, so if you’ve got the sun, there’s nowhere you can’t fit this cutie. In a container, it can be a filler or a near-spiller, trailing daintily over the edge.
Sunsparkler® Angelinas Teacup Stonecrop Sedum Care
Angelinas Teacup would like the sunniest spot you can muster. It’s drought-tolerant once established, but will need regular watering to do so the first year or two to foster strong root growth. Average soil, with great drainage a must, is at the top of sedums’ wish lists when they are browsing the real estate listings. When planting in a container drainage holes are a must, and lighter potting mixes are best. Avoid soil with “moisture-retaining crystals.”
Fertilizer is unnecessary unless the soil is very poor, in which case amend with compost and/or soil conditioner.
Sunsparkler® Angelinas Teacup Stonecrop Sedum Spacing
Angelinas Teacup will expand moderately to about 12 to 18 inches. So about 18 inches would be an ideal space between your Angelinas Teacups Sedum plants, because the plants will spread. Propagation by cuttings or division is easy at any time in the season.
