Blushing Princess Sweet Alyssum Lobularia hybrid is one of the most adaptable, and delicately fragrant additions to any garden. The narrow green leaves are hidden under a cascade of tiny lavender blooms. Sweet alyssum’s soft, trailing ground cover accentuates its cottage garden beauty. Short in stature, at a height of 10-16 inches, this sweet alyssum can stand alone or compliment any garden or container all season long.

Sweet alyssum versatility can’t be beat! Not only is it pleasing to the eyes, but its sweet aroma attracts butterflies to your door. Blushing Princess Ⓡ Sweet Alyssum will soften borders by spilling into a walkway or used to enliven a rock garden. It is a great addition as a bedding plant by creating a carpet of blooms. Even sweet alyssum can be used in a container as an excellent spiller.

Blushing Princess® Sweet Alyssum Care

Blushing Princess Sweet Alyssum is very easy to maintain. No deadheading is needed. If planting it in the landscape, only fertilize or add compost once a year. If it is planted in a container, fertilize with a slow release fertilizer and add a water soluble fertilizer in midsummer to keep it looking good. It can take a range of sun from full to part sun, so a minimum of 4 hours is needed. It will adapt to average soil, but it does prefer to be kept in a larger container. The reasoning for a larger container is more to help support its larger root system and water demands. In times of drought, Blushing Princess Ⓡ Sweet Alyssum may show signs of drought stress. It will easily bounce back once rehydrated, so it prefers evenly wet soil.

Typically, sweet alyssum is a hardy annual in zones 8 and below. In warmer zones, 9 to 11, it is perennial. In most cases, this plant will continuously bloom outside from early spring into a fall or winter hard frost, depending on the zone it is planted in.

Blushing Princess® Sweet Alyssum Spacing

When planting in a container, sweet alyssum should be arranged closer to the edge of the pot to help create a cascading effect. A minimum container size is 12 inches, but a larger size would be preferable. Space sweet alyssum an average of 6 inches from other plants in the container.

Used as bedding plants in the landscape, ensure 18 to 24 inches between plants and consider it will spread up to 36 inches.

Plant Addicts Warranty - 1 Year (Extra Purchase Required)

We encourage all plant lovers to purchase the Plant Addicts Warranty, whether you're a new gardener or an expert. There are many variables outside of anyone's control that can cause a plant to die. Hungry animals, drought, poor soil conditions, over watering, diseases & pests are all good examples of what can cause plants to die. The Plant Addicts Warranty is a 1 year warranty protecting you from all of the unknowns and will replace your plant if something were to happen to it.

The warranty is purchased on a per plant basis and must be purchased at the same time as the plant(s). We will cover 100% of the price of the plant, but the warranty does not cover shipping costs. SImply let us know if your plant has died within 1 year of receiving it and we will get you a new one shipped out as soon as possible (depending on the time of the year and availability). We may ask for photos for documentation purposes, but we try to make the process as easy as possible.

Guarantee and Warranty

Plant Shipping

Below are some factors we consider when determining when to ship the plants depending on the timing of the order.

Winter to Early Spring

We ship only when it's warm enough to plant in your growing zone.
Sometimes plants aren't completely ready to sell and ship in early spring. We will wait until the plants are ready before shipping so you don't get a subpar product.
For Southern plants we will be able to ship much earlier than plants coming from our northern nursery.

Summer

If there is extreme heat we may delay shipping for a week or several weeks.
We review what areas the plants are traveling through as well as your location.

Fall into Winter

We’ll ship plants out all the way up to the end of the fall planting season!

Winter

Get your order in early to reserve your plants for Spring planting!

Once your plant is shipped you’ll receive an automated email with tracking information.
