The Invincibelle Limetta® Hydrangea from Proven Winners ColorChoice® is a short shrub that is easy to care for and is covered in flowers year after year. This dwarf hydrangea has lime green blooms in early summer that add white tones, then turn a darker green later in the year. These small hydrangeas are perfect for foundational plantings, flower gardens, garden planters, and garden borders.
With minimal work, you can add beautiful flowers to almost any location with this shrub! The Invincibelle Limetta Hydrangea is also a reblooming hydrangea. Meaning it blooms on new and old wood. This is a distinct advantage over other hydrangeas, as winter damage and pruning are no longer an issue. These repeat blooming hydrangeas will grow new flowers all summer long!
Invincibelle Limetta Hydrangea Care
We recommend planting this shrub in an area that gets at least 6 hours of sunlight a day. This will ensure that the stems will grow strong enough to hold the large flowers upright. And also helps the plant produce more flowers throughout the growing season. Smooth hydrangeas like this shrub are very low maintenance.
Pruning Invincibelle Limetta Hydrangeas should be done so in early spring as the new growth begins on the branches. Simply cut back about a ⅓ of the total length of the shrub. This will help promote a strong base of branches, and encourage new growth on the plant. It is also helpful to provide a layer of mulch on the base of the plant. This helps protect shallow roots from extreme conditions, as well as help retain moisture for the shrub.
Fertilize in early spring before new growth starts with slow release fertilizer, designed for woody plants such as roses. Smooth hydrangeas like this shrub are native to North America, and make terrific pollinating plants!
Invincibelle Limetta Hydrangea Spacing
Plant these 3 to 4 feet apart, center on center. If you choose to grow a border or small hedge, you can plant these 30 - 36 inches apart, center on center. These shrubs are also great in garden containers. Be sure to give the same amount of space between plants as stated above if you choose to plant more than 1 in a container. Hydrangeas in pots will also need more protection during winter, and more than likely need to be brought indoors to help protect the roots in very cold climates.
