The Invincibelle® Ruby Hydrangea is a beautiful smooth hydrangea bred from Proven Winners ColorChoice®. This plant is remarkable because it has red, burgundy and pink blooms, which is rare for a hydrangea arborescens. These beautiful flowers are held upright by very strong stems, helping these shrubs keep a nice mounded form.
These shrubs bloom on new growth, and bloom without fail every single year. If you have had trouble in the past with your hydrangeas not blooming, this is the plant for you! These take minimal maintenance, and look beautiful from early summer to late fall!
Invincibelle Ruby Hydrangea Care
Like most smooth hydrangeas, these are very easy to care for. Plant in a location with at least 6 hours of sunlight (full sun). The plant needs well-drained but moist soil. We recommend adding mulch to help keep the soil moist during dry periods.
Prune Invincibelle Ruby Hydrangeas in early spring, by trimming ⅓ of the total length of the branches. Never cut down to the ground. By pruning, you encourage more growth, help the stems become stronger, and help the shrub produce more flowers the coming year.
Fertilize these hydrangeas using a controlled release fertilizer that is designed for woody plants such as rose fertilizer.
Invincibelle Ruby Hydrangea Spacing
Plant these shrubs 36 to 48 inches apart, center on center. If you choose to plant these into a mid-sized hedge, plant these 28 to 36 inches apart, center on center. These create a beautiful red flowering hedge, that is covered in blooms and easy to care for! We also love using these in garden planters as a statement plant that grabs your attention. Only use 1 per planter, unless the pot is over 72 inches wide.
