FrostKiss™ Glenda's Gloss Hellebore

With its stunning flowers and foliage, the FrostKiss™ Glenda's Gloss Hellebore will really brighten up the late-winter garden. Being deer and rabbit resistant, Glenda's Gloss Hellebore is well suited to growing in either an urban or rural environment. Requiring little ongoing care once established, this perennial hellebore is wonderfully low maintenance. Native to the mountainous regions of Europe and Asia, Glenda’s Gloss is suitable for growing in zones 5 to 8. As a shade-loving plant, it is suitably at home in woodland planting schemes or when used for underplanting.

Hellebores are happiest when planted in full to partial shade and in moist, fertile soil that has a pH of around 5.5 to 6.5. Even though it is fairly tolerant of drought once established, water Glenda’s Gloss regularly for the first couple of years. To get the best from this hellebore, a mulch of organic matter or a general, slow-release fertilizer can be applied in spring. 

Hellebores generally require minimal pruning; however, any old or brown foliage can be cut away as buds begin to form in late winter. Being toxic, gloves are advisable when handling.  When grown in a container, more frequent watering will be required compared to plants grown directly in the ground. Even though Glenda’s Gloss is able to cope with full shade, it may flower less than when grown in some sunlight.

Once established, Glenda’s Gloss can grow to a maximum height and spread of 18-24 inches. If grown en masse, space plants around 16 inches apart to provide maximum impact.
