FrostKiss™ Molly’s White Hellebore is a late winter to early spring blooming Hellebore featuring graceful, delicate, greenish-white flowers that appear on long, dark stems. The silvery-green, marbled evergreen foliage remains attractive year round and will enliven and add interest to any shade or woodland garden. The nectar of Hellebore x FrostKiss® ‘Molly’s White’ is a delight for early emerging hungry pollinators.
FrostKiss™ Molly’s White Hellebore grows in Hardiness Zones 5-8, reaching a height of 20-24 inches with an equal spread. This shade-loving beauty is bred to have more sun tolerance than other varieties and offers effortless charm and visual interest in late winter and early spring.
FrostKiss™ Molly's White Hellebore Care
FrostKiss™ Molly’s White Hellebore enjoys being planted in well-draining soil rich in organic matter. It thrives in partial or full shade areas but can tolerate a bit of dappled sun. Plant it in areas that are protected from cold winter winds. Hellebores will self-seed in good growing conditions. Keep soil moist after planting for the first growing season until the plant matures; this plant becomes drought tolerant once established. FrostKiss™ Molly’s White Hellebore prefers soil pH neutral to slightly alkaline.
Deadheading spent flowers will encourage reblooming and keep the plant tidy and fresh looking. Apply a 2-3 inch layer of organic mulch around the base of your plant to protect it from harsh winter winds and freezing temperatures. As new growth appears in early spring, you can cut back dried or tattered foliage from the last season. Side dress plants with compost and organic matter in early spring as the new growth appears for additional slow-release nutrients.
FrostKiss™ Molly's White Hellebore Spacing
Excellent planted in groups, Molly’s White works well as a lower-growing perennial groundcover in partial shade perennial gardens and woodland borders. Allow for about 24 inches of spacing between plants, giving them enough room to spread out once they mature to their full size. Their compound mounds will slowly spread over time.
