Coneflowers are easy-care plants that deliver dependable blooms during the summer, and the Sombrero® Rosada Coneflower is no exception. Overlapping bright pink petals surround an extended dark brown cone. The flowers are perched on tall, branching stems reaching 22 inches tall and feature green foliage that comes to a point. This striking plant will bloom throughout the summer.

This Echinacea hybrid is an upright plant that can be used as a focal point or a filler. Feature this Coneflower in borders, mass plantings, containers, or as a cut or dried flower. Coneflowers are native to North America, so once this plant acclimates, it is drought-tolerant and requires little care. The Sombrero® Rosada Coneflower will be a draw for butterflies and other pollinators, but it is deer-resistant. This plant grows as a perennial in USDA zones 4 through 9.

Sombrero® Rosada Coneflower Plant Care

The ideal spot will receive at least 4 to 6 hours of sunlight. Newly planted Coneflowers will need water when the top several inches of soil dry out, but established plants will only need water during an extended dry spell. Avoid rich soil because it will make the plant leggy, but use soil that promotes drainage. Fertilize the plant once per year during the spring. Use a balanced, water-soluble plant food.

Deadhead the plant to keep it looking tidy and promote new growth and blooms. Trim the growth back in the fall or spring, depending on your preference. Leaving the spent blooms will allow the plant to reseed and serve as a food source for birds during the fall and winter.

Sombrero® Rosada Coneflower Plant Spacing

Place Sombrero® Rosada Coneflowers near the middle or front of a garden bed where they will not block other plants. This Coneflower will grow 18 to 22 inches tall and 22 to 24 inches wide. Plants can be spaced 22 to 24 inches apart, but try to leave closer to 30 inches if planting near a building.
