Sombrero® Summer Solstice Coneflower (Echinacea SOMBRERO® Summer Solstice) is a super colorful variety of echinacea. It features bright white and yellow petals with an orange cone in the center. Echinaceas are known for their long-lasting blooms, and the Sombrero® Summer Solstice Coneflower is no exception. It blooms all summer long in USDA hardiness zones 5-8, and grows 22-24 inches tall and wide.
Sombrero® Summer Solstice Coneflower has a study, compact form and an upright growth habit. This plant is drought tolerant once established and has good deer resistance. Sombrero® Summer Solstice Coneflower is ideal for pollinator and songbird gardens.
Sombrero® Summer Solstice Coneflower Care
This coneflower requires full sun, about 6 hours a day or more. Nutrient-rich, well-draining soil is preferred for this plant although it can be highly adaptable to soil types. Sombrero® Summer Solstice Coneflower is not a heavy feeder. Fertilizer is only necessary about once per year, applied during the early spring months.
Deadhead blooms throughout the growing season to encourage more to appear. You can prune during late fall or early spring by trimming the stems to just a few inches above soil.
