The Sombrero® Tango Tangerine® Coneflower may just be the focal point of your landscape. Vibrant orange flowers bloom during the late spring and summer. The flowers boast narrow, overlapping petals, creating a full head. The lower portions of the branching stems feature dark green foliage that narrows to a point.
This upright filler is a medium-height plant, so place it in the front or middle of borders or mass plantings where it will be seen while not overshadowing other plants. The Echinacea hybrida is native to North America, and it is not only drought-tolerant, but it is also deer-resistant, allowing this plant to thrive in somewhat challenging conditions. The Sombrero® Tango Tangerine® Coneflower grows as a perennial in USDA zones 4b through 9b.
Sombrero® Tango Tangerine® Coneflower Plant Care
Plant this cultivar in full sun. At least 6 hours of daylight is necessary for this vibrant bloomer to thrive. Soil should be rich and promote drainage—water newly planted Coneflowers when the top few inches of soil dry out. Acclimated plants will not need water unless the conditions are extremely dry. Fertilize Coneflowers in the spring using balanced, water-soluble plant food.
Prune spent flowers to encourage more growth during the bloom cycle. All growth can be cut back in the spring or the fall. Some gardeners wait until the spring to prune Coneflowers, so the plants can reseed or so birds can eat the seeds during the fall and winter.
Sombrero® Tango Tangerine® Coneflower Plant Spacing
This plant will grow 18 to 20 inches tall and 22 to 24 inches wide. Space plants 22 inches from the center to create a lush and consistent mass planting.
