Are Tickseeds Poisonous to Dogs?

Dogs are curious animals that often put things in their mouths. Many dogs enjoy chomping on twigs, flowers, leaves, and other gifts that nature provides. This can obviously be destructive for your garden, but if your pup is stubborn and can’t resist your plants, it’s best to make sure the ones you plant won’t harm them. Tickseed is a plant you can safely add to your garden without worrying about whether your pup takes a nibble.

Are Tickseeds Poisonous to Cats?

Do you own cats or have frequent feline visitors? No need to worry. The tickseed plant is perfectly safe for both grown cats and kittens.

Are Tickseeds Poisonous to Other Animals?

Tickseed is not toxic to other animals, including ruminants. Tickseeds are also unlikely to be targeted by hungry deer. But in the event that deer graze these plants, the deer would not experience any symptoms of poisoning.

Protecting Tickseed

If you want to keep your children, pets, or other animals away from your tickseed completely, you can put up a barrier around it. Try using plastic netting to surround your tickseed completely. If you are worried about deer visiting and eating your tickseed, make sure that the barrier is high enough. Deer can jump 8 feet off of the ground, so your barrier needs to be tall.
