How To Use

  1. Plan Your Plant Layout
Before you begin planting, arrange your chosen herbs or plants in the configuration you’d like within the milk crate. This will help you visualize the space and ensure proper spacing between plants for optimal growth.

  2. Unfold & Place Liner
Unfold your Smart Pot Milk Crate Liner and position it inside the milk crate. Make sure to press the liner into the corners and flatten the bottom to secure it in place. If there's any excess liner, fold it over the edges of the crate for a snug fit.

  3. Fill Your Milk Crate Liner
Fill the liner with a high-quality potting mix, ideally mixed with compost for added nutrients. Leave about 2 inches from the top to allow for watering. Water the soil thoroughly until it reaches a consistency similar to brownie mix, ensuring it’s moist but not soggy.

  4. Press Your Guide
Using the pots of your plants as a guide, gently press them into the soil to create indentations. This will serve as a reference for digging planting holes.

  5. Planting Party!
Remove the plants from their pots and carefully dig holes in the soil according to the root depth of each plant. Place your plants into the prepared holes and backfill with soil, ensuring they are positioned correctly and adequately supported.

  6. Water Your Milk Crate Garden
Once all plants are in place, give your milk crate garden a generous watering to settle the soil around the roots. Ensure that water drains through the liner for optimal moisture levels. For best results, place your milk crate in a location that receives plenty of sunlight.

  7. Care and Fertilize as Needed
Monitor your plants regularly for water needs and signs of nutrient deficiency. Fertilize your plants according to your chosen fertilizer program, as Smart Pots work well with all types of fertilizers. Adjust watering and care based on weather conditions and the specific needs of your plants.

  8. Maintain Your Garden
Check the soil moisture regularly, especially during hot weather. Remove any weeds and dead leaves to keep the garden healthy. If necessary, relocate your milk crate garden to adjust to changing sunlight conditions or to protect plants from extreme weather.
