  • Season-Long Beauty: Blooms appear from mid to late summer, keeping your garden lively for weeks.

Planting Guide

Plant Jester Gladiolus bulbs in spring once the danger of frost has passed and soil has warmed to about 55°F. Choose a bright, sunny spot with loose, well-draining soil enriched with compost. Set bulbs 4–6 inches deep and 4–6 inches apart, then water thoroughly to help them settle in. For a continuous show, stagger plantings every two weeks until early summer.

Ongoing Care

These gladiolus grow tall—reaching 3–4 feet—so give them support with stakes placed at planting time. Water about an inch per week, keeping soil evenly moist but never soggy. Feed with a balanced fertilizer (10-10-10) when shoots first emerge and again as flower spikes form. Mulch around the plants to hold in moisture and discourage weeds. Remove spent blooms to encourage more flowers. In colder climates (zones 7 and below), dig up the bulbs in fall after foliage has died back. Store them in a cool, dry place over winter, then replant the following spring.

Growing in Containers

Yes—you can grow Jester Gladiolus in pots! Choose containers at least 12 inches deep with good drainage. Use a high-quality potting mix, and follow the same planting and care steps as in the garden. They’re a fantastic way to brighten patios, balconies, or small outdoor spaces.
