This Asiatic lily is sometimes sold as Purple Reign and belongs to the brushmark group popularized through Oregon breeding work. It is a hardy perennial bulb that returns reliably in zones 3 to 8 when planted in well-drained soil. The upward-facing flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and the stems usually stand well without staking.
