Patricia’s Pride Asiatic Lily Bulbs have a brushmarked flower pattern that looks striking without feeling overdone. Lilium 'Patricia’s Pride' opens creamy white petals marked with deep maroon to near-black centers, forming a star-like pattern across each bloom. The 4- to 5-inch flowers appear in early summer on sturdy 30- to 40-inch stems. This lily is stunning in cutting gardens because the flowers appear both graphic and refined.

This Asiatic lily is sometimes sold as Purple Reign and belongs to the brushmark group popularized through Oregon breeding work. It is a hardy perennial bulb that returns reliably in zones 3 to 8 when planted in well-drained soil. The upward-facing flowers attract butterflies and hummingbirds, and the stems usually stand well without staking. Use Patricia’s Pride Asiatic Lily Bulbs in sunny borders, modern mixed beds, cut flower rows, or grouped near dark foliage for extra contrast.

Patricia’s Pride Asiatic Lily Bulbs Care

Plant Patricia’s Pride Asiatic Lily Bulbs in full sun to partial shade, with at least 6 hours of sun for the strongest flowering. Grow them in fertile, well-drained soil that stays moderately moist but never soggy. A slightly acidic to neutral soil pH, about 6.0 to 7.0, is ideal for healthy bulbs.

Water after planting to settle the soil, then water during dry periods while shoots and buds are active. A light mulch helps keep the root zone cool and reduces drying between soakings. Feed in spring as new shoots emerge with a balanced slow-release fertilizer, following the label rate. After flowering, the plant will move gradually toward dormancy as the stems yellow later in the season.

Remove faded flowers once petals drop, cutting just below the bloom cluster. Leave the green stems and leaves in place until they yellow naturally, since they rebuild the bulb for next year. Divide crowded clumps every 3 to 4 years in spring as new growth appears, and keep true lilies away from cats.

Patricia’s Pride Asiatic Lily Bulbs Spacing

Plant Patricia’s Pride Asiatic Lily Bulbs 4 to 6 inches deep and 6 to 9 inches apart, with the pointed end facing up. For containers, use a pot at least 12 to 14 inches wide with drainage holes and enough depth for roots below the bulbs. Water potted lilies carefully during active growth, since containers dry faster but poorly drained mix can rot bulbs.

For container companions, pair Patricia’s Pride Asiatic Lily Bulbs with lobelia, nemesia, or alyssum to cover the soil surface without crowding the upright stems. In garden beds, purple-toned coral bells highlight the dark brushmarks, and avens adds lower flowers before the lily show peaks. Irises make a strong structural partner in sunny beds, giving upright foliage that complements the clean lily stems.
