Potluck Citrus Zest Punch Bulb Mix creates a lively summer palette with apricot-orange spires, lemon-yellow blooms, and hot pink calla flowers. This 21-piece collection combines Gladiolus 'Orange Sun', Dahlia pinnata 'Yellow Sneezy', and Zantedeschia 'Fantasia' for color that moves from tall vertical stems to compact mounds and sleek trumpet-shaped flowers. The contrast makes this mix special, since each plant carries the citrus theme at a different height and in a different shape. In our gardens, the calla flowers are especially useful to fill the gap between the gladiolus spikes and low dahlia blooms.
These are spring-planted, summer-flowering bulbs and tubers. Gladioli supply tall stems for cutting, the single-flowered dahlias continue flowering when spent blooms are removed, and the calla lilies contribute attractive foliage between flower flushes. Use the mix in a sunny cutting garden, along a warm border that needs midseason color, or in coordinated containers near an outdoor dining area. Because the three components differ in hardiness, gardeners in cold climates should plan to lift and store the gladiolus corms, dahlia tubers, and calla rhizomes after frost.
Potluck Citrus Zest Punch Bulb Mix Care
Plant after the last frost once the soil has warmed, choosing full sun for the best flowering with at least six hours of direct light. Use fertile, well-drained loam with a slightly acidic to neutral pH, roughly 6.0 to 7.0. In heavy clay, loosen a broad planting area with compost so rainwater moves through rather than collecting around the bulbs and tubers. Apply a discreet support early on to keep the tall gladiolus stems upright.
Water lightly after planting, then increase irrigation once shoots are visible and the top inch of soil begins to dry. During hot weather, keep the root zone evenly moist, but let containers drain completely after each watering. Feed at planting with a balanced slow-release fertilizer, then use a low-nitrogen flower fertilizer as buds begin to form. After frost blackens the foliage, lift the bulbs in zones where winter soil freezes, dry them briefly, and store them in a cool, frost-free place.
Cut gladiolus stems when the lowest florets begin to open, leaving several leaves on the plant to recharge the corm. Deadhead the dahlias regularly and remove faded calla flowers at the base to keep new buds developing. Pinching young dahlia shoots when they reach about 10 to 12 inches encourages a fuller plant.
Potluck Citrus Zest Punch Bulb Mix Spacing
Plant Orange Sun gladioli 4 to 6 inches apart and 4 to 6 inches deep, space Yellow Sneezy dahlias 12 to 18 inches apart and 4 to 6 inches deep, and set Fantasia calla lilies 6 to 9 inches apart about 2 to 3 inches deep. For containers, use at least a 16- to 18-inch-wide pot for a small mixed grouping, or give each dahlia or calla its own 12- to 14-inch container and reserve a deeper pot for gladioli. Container-grown plants need drainage holes, regular moisture checks, and more frequent feeding than plants in the ground.

FAQs
1. What’s included in the Potluck Citrus Zest Punch Bulb Mix?
You’ll receive 21 bulbs: 15 Orange Sun Gladioli, 3 Yellow Sneezy Dahlias, and 3 Fantasia Calla Lilies.
2. When and where should I plant these bulbs?
Plant in spring after frost danger has passed, in a spot with well-draining soil and full to partial sun. They work well in borders, beds, or large containers.
3. Can I grow this mix in containers?
Yes! This mix does beautifully in containers for patios, porches, or balconies. Just be sure to use potting soil with good drainage and a container that won’t hold excess water.
4. How do I care for the bulbs after they bloom?
Allow the foliage to remain until it turns yellow and naturally dies back. This step lets the bulb store energy for the following season. Once foliage has withered, you can remove it and, if needed, lift and store bulbs in a cool, dry spot.
5. Can I mix these bulbs with other plants?
Absolutely! They combine beautifully with perennials, grasses, and groundcovers. In the landscape, salvia and coneflower match the mix’s sun and drainage needs while providing contrasting flower shapes beside the gladiolus and calla stems. In large patio containers, calibrachoa and verbena make suitable companions because they enjoy sun, drain quickly, and fill the rim without crowding the upright bulbs.
