Potluck Planting Sunny Day Bouquet Mix opens spring with bright yellow daffodils and deep blue grape hyacinths in one ready-planned bulb set. This cheerful combination includes Narcissus 'Golden Echo', Narcissus 'Rip van Winkle', and Muscari armeniacum for early- to mid-spring color with varied flower shapes and heights. Golden Echo adds fragrant white-and-yellow blooms, Rip van Winkle contributes frilly yellow double flowers, and blue muscari fills the lower layer with clustered spikes. We like this mix because the blue and yellow pairing feels crisp without needing a complicated planting plan.

This fall-planted bulb mix is designed for spring impact in garden beds, borders, cutting areas, and containers. The daffodils are long-lived bulbs that deer and rodents typically avoid, while muscari can naturalize into expanding patches over time. Bloom timing will shift with spring weather, but the mix generally creates an early-season display before many perennials have reached full size. Use it along walkways, in mailbox beds, at the front of sunny shrub borders, or in porch pots where the short muscari can show below the taller daffodil flowers.

Potluck Planting Sunny Day Bouquet Mix Care

Plant Potluck Planting Sunny Day Bouquet Mix in full sun to partial shade, with at least 6 hours of sun supporting the best flowering. Choose well-drained soil that stays moist during root growth but does not hold standing water. A slightly acidic to neutral soil pH, about 6.0 to 7.0, suits this spring bulb combination.

Water well after planting in fall so soil settles around the bulbs and roots begin to form. During dry fall weather or spring growth, water deeply when the soil becomes dry below the surface, then let excess moisture drain away. Feed at planting or when shoots appear with a bulb fertilizer or balanced slow-release fertilizer, keeping fertilizer out of direct contact with the bulbs. After flowering, let the bed become drier as the foliage yellows and the bulbs move toward summer rest.

Deadhead finished daffodil flowers so the bulbs do not spend energy on seed. Leave the leaves in place for 6 to 8 weeks after bloom, or until they yellow and pull away easily. In cold zones, add a light mulch after the soil cools, then move it aside before shoots rise in spring.

Potluck Planting Sunny Day Bouquet Mix Spacing

Plant larger daffodil bulbs about 6 inches deep and 4 to 6 inches apart, then plant muscari about 2 to 3 inches deep in small groups near the front or between the daffodils. For a fuller bouquet effect, cluster bulbs in uneven drifts rather than straight rows. In containers, use a pot at least 12 inches wide with drainage holes, place daffodils deeper, and layer muscari closer to the surface for a packed spring display.

For container companions, use primrose, dianthus, or lobelia around the top layer because they stay compact and suit cool spring conditions. In garden beds, daylilies are useful nearby because their emerging foliage helps cover aging bulb leaves later in spring. Hostas can work at the edge of part-shade bulb plantings, while Shasta daisies make a good sunny partner that takes over visually after the bulbs finish.
