Romance Crocus Bulbs open extra early with buttery yellow flowers brushed in creamy white. Crocus chrysanthus ‘Romance’ stays petite at 3 to 6 inches tall, yet the clustered blooms can color a cold border before many spring bulbs have started. The cup-shaped flowers open in sun and close at night or during gray weather. Our garden designer likes it near front steps, where its first blooms are easy to catch on late-winter mornings.

This snow crocus is native in ancestry to parts of southeastern Europe and western Asia, including Greece, Bulgaria, and Turkey. Water thoroughly after planting to settle the corms into the soil. Fall and winter watering are usually unnecessary unless the season is very dry. In spring, water only when the soil dries during active growth, then let the area become drier as the foliage fades and the corms enter dormancy.
