Sundew Double Asiatic Lily Bulbs open in early summer with bright yellow, petal-packed flowers that look full without dropping pollen everywhere. Lilium 'Sundew' grows about 24 to 36 inches tall, making it tall enough for border color but compact enough for large patio pots. The double blooms have a clean, rounded look, with darker speckling near the center adding detail up close. This is a superb lily for cutting gardens because the pollen-free flowers are easier to use indoors.

Asiatic lilies are true lilies, and this group is known for upward-facing flowers, sturdy stems, and dependable perennial performance. Sundew is not grown for heavy fragrance; its value is the yellow color, double form, and cleaner cut-flower habit. The bulbs can multiply over time in well-drained soil, building a fuller clump each year. Use them in sunny perennial borders, container displays, cutting beds, or near early summer perennials that can frame the lower stems.

Sundew Double Asiatic Lily Bulbs Care

Plant Sundew Double Asiatic Lily Bulbs in full sun to partial shade, with at least 6 hours of sun for the strongest flowering. Choose loose, well-drained soil that stays evenly moist but never soggy. A slightly acidic to neutral soil pH, about 6.0 to 7.0, works well for Asiatic lilies.

Water after planting to settle the soil around the bulbs, then keep the root zone moderately moist as shoots grow. Established lilies benefit from deep watering during dry spells, especially while buds are forming. Mulch lightly after the soil warms to keep roots cooler and reduce moisture swings. Feed in early spring as shoots emerge with a balanced slow-release fertilizer, following the label rate.

Remove faded flowers after bloom, cutting only the flower portion and leaving as much stem and foliage as possible. Let the stems yellow naturally before cutting them back, since the leaves recharge the bulb for next year. Divide crowded clumps in fall when flowering declines, and replant firm bulbs at the same depth.

Sundew Double Asiatic Lily Bulbs Spacing

Plant Sundew Double Asiatic Lily Bulbs 4 to 6 inches deep and 6 to 9 inches apart, with the pointed end facing up. For containers, use a pot at least 12 to 14 inches wide with drainage holes, placing bulbs deep enough to leave soil below for roots. Container-grown lilies look best the first season and then should be moved into the garden if you want stronger return growth.

For container companions, pair Sundew Double Asiatic Lily Bulbs with calibrachoa, bacopa, or fan flower to trail below the upright lily stems without crowding the bulbs. In garden beds, salvia and catmint give a lower blue-toned contrast that suits sun and good drainage. Daylilies and tickseed are strong landscape partners because they continue the warm summer color after the lilies finish.
