Yellow Futurity Canna Lily has a compact form and gives summer containers a sunny tropical look. Canna 'Yellow Futurity' grows about 30 to 36 inches tall with green, banana-like foliage and soft butter-yellow flowers from summer to frost. Its compact size makes it easy to use near patios, pool areas, and small garden beds where taller cannas would feel oversized. We find it especially useful in porch pots because the foliage fills in quickly while the flowers keep the display bright through heat.

This dwarf canna is a warm-season bulb grown from 2/3-eye rhizomes and is perennial in zones 8 to 10. In colder zones, it can still be enjoyed as a summer bulb and lifted for winter storage after frost. The flowers attract hummingbirds and butterflies, while the bold leaves give containers a full, tropical profile even between bloom cycles. Use Yellow Futurity Canna Lily Bulbs in sunny borders, patio planters, poolside containers, or annual-style beds that need height without a sprawling footprint.

Yellow Futurity Canna Lily Bulbs Care

Plant Yellow Futurity Canna Lily Bulbs in full sun, ideally with 8 or more hours of direct light for the best flowering. Cannas prefer moist, fertile soil that drains well, with added compost helpful in sandy or lean beds. A slightly acidic to neutral soil pH, around 6.0 to 7.0, supports healthy foliage and flower production.

Water newly planted rhizomes after planting, then keep the soil evenly moist once growth appears. Established cannas perform best with consistent moisture, and curling leaves or dry soil several inches down are signs they need a deeper soak. Feed during active growth with a balanced slow-release fertilizer or a flower-focused fertilizer according to the label. Mulch garden plantings after the soil warms to conserve moisture and reduce weed pressure.

Remove spent flower clusters to keep the plant tidy and encourage continued blooming. Cut damaged leaves back to the base as needed, using clean pruners so the remaining foliage still looks fresh. In zones colder than 8, lift rhizomes after frost blackens the leaves, dry them briefly, and store them in a cool, dry, frost-free place until spring.

Yellow Futurity Canna Lily Bulbs Spacing

Plant Yellow Futurity Canna Lily Bulbs 2 to 3 inches deep and space them 9 to 12 inches apart in garden beds. For containers, use at least a 14- to 16-inch pot for one rhizome, or a wider planter for a fuller grouping. Choose a container with drainage holes, use a moisture-retentive potting mix, and water often during hot weather because cannas are thirsty in pots.

For container companions, pair Yellow Futurity Canna Lily Bulbs with coleus, sweet potato vines, or calibrachoa for foliage contrast and trailing color in full sun. Lantana also works well in hot patio planters because it handles sun and blooms through summer with similar watering needs. In landscape beds, elephant ears create a larger tropical backdrop, while dahlias and zinnia give nearby flower color without competing with the canna’s upright form.
